What If I Told You...

That our earliest experiences shape the way we perceive the world around us, and affect our physical and mental health for the rest of our lives? Or that this knowledge empowers us to actively change the outcomes associated with these perceptions - for ourselves and our children?

What if you had a friend who had learned the value of this type of self-care, supported others in the transformative journeys of life, pregnancy and parenthood, and shouted from the rooftops about the transformations that come with this holistic approach to pregnancy, birth and parenthood?

Hi, I'm Ashley Makan!

I've experienced and supported birth on both ends of the spectrum, from trauma and loss to empowerment and transformation.  I've always been fascinated by perception, but my own transformative birth expanded that interest, and my journey through postpartum brought my exploration of mindfulness and meditation to a new level. As a Pre- and Perinatal Educator I've learned that pregnancy and birth affects every human on this planet on a deeper level than I ever could have imagined.  Whether you're a first or fifth time parent, whether you have no children or are far past your own pregnancy and birthing journeys, I'm here to explore this impactful information with you, and it will likely change the way you view yourself and the world around you.

What is Birth Psychology?

Birth Psychology is a multi-disciplinary field of study that explores the lifelong impacts of our earliest experiences from conception through early infancy.  These experiences shape our physical and emotional health and our perceptions of the world around us for our entire lives. Understanding how our bodies and minds work together, and how our own births and lived experiences affect every aspect of these processes, brings awareness that is necessary to being part of the positive growth of humanity.
